Q&A: “What You Need to Know about AVnu Alliance’s AVB Certification Program”
The goal of the AVnu Alliance certification program is to ensure that, once certified, AVB (audio video bridging) products from different manufacturers can interconnect seamlessly. So what does it take for a product to be AVnu-certified?

Joined by more than 50 member companies such as Intel, Dolby, Harman, Marvell, and Meyer Sound, the AVnu Alliance recently announced the opening of its Audio Video Bridging (AVB) certification testing for AVB switches.

Q: In a nutshell, what is AVB?
McMahon: AVB is a set of non-proprietary networking standards developed by an IEEE committee as an extension of Ethernet, which has become the gold standard of digital networking. AVB is a superior method for transmitting audio and video streams with great flexibility, reliability, and low latency. It provides advantages that meet the rigorous application requirements on the pro AV side, and these improvements translate nicely to benefit consumer electronics as well.
