As I checked my email this morning, there was an interesting find.
A Message from the Chancellor of UC San Diego.
I’m extremely pleased to share the exciting news that UC San Diego has received a transformational $18.5 million gift, the largest gift ever from one of our alumni. The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, designated the gift for our Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The resources will take the department to the next level by funding new faculty endowed chairs to aid UC San Diego in recruiting innovative faculty. We will provide students with top-of-the-line teaching labs and will expand mentoring and tutoring programs to educate the next generation of undergraduates.
This visionary gift is truly a game changer for the department, the Jacobs School and UC San Diego. It’s also a call to action to achieve our mission as a student-centered and research-oriented public university whose alumni change the world. The generosity of our alumni, and others who believe in the work we do, is inspiring and uplifting to all faculty, staff and students. I invite you to read more about the far-reaching impact of this gift here.
